Preview #16 God and Reality

Chapter Twelve
Miscellaneous

In many ways this is an interesting chapter. It explores the highways and byeways in order to fill in the gaps in our narrative.

Quote from Michael McCray's conversation with Monjoronson on Dec 2nd 2011

(JRT) I put this in here because it explains the process of co-creation that involves consciousness, visualization, intention etc. It can give us deeper insight into the hidden power of our consciousness. We tend to underestimate our power.

What will the world look like in 500 years?

MONJORONSON:  Well, my friends, that is a very good question.  If you continue to make the same decisions as you have in the past, it will be no different than it is today.  You create the future by the decisions you make.  The future you want is the future you create.  You must decide that you want to intervene in the world and its events, its developments, such that the future becomes the vision of what you have for it.  We are striving to present you with a vision of a world that is sustainable.  We are in the process of indoctrinating you with the processes of how to envision and then design the future that you want.  This is a co-creative process; this is also a learning process.  We want you to learn how to make competent, conscientious and efficacious decisions for creating a future that you wish to bring into existence.

When we say, “imagine a world 500 years from now that is sustainable,” what would that look like?  We hope that it is obvious to you, that many of the social processes that you are engaged in now, whether in governance or in commerce or in education, or otherwise, are unproductive.  What is missing is a model for decision-making, a model of morality that will guide you in making those decisions.  You are eager—we like that!  You want to begin to work with us co-creatively, and the future cannot be brought into existence without that.  We are slowly giving you the bits and pieces that you will need to build the future that you choose and you desire, and that you envision.

The first decision to make is, do you want a future that is sustainable?  The second decision is, do you want to participate with us in achieving those ends?  Now, you may think that these are rhetorical questions that I am asking you, but, my dear friends, you need to get on your knees beside your bed at night, fold your hands and talk to God, and say that you are totally committed to assisting us in bringing about a sustainable future that you hold in your mind, and that we will assist you to form that vision.  This is what is needed.  Whether you do it in meditation or beside your bed in the old traditional way, is your choice, or whether you do it on the way to work—that is your choice as well.  But you need to make a conscious decision to participate in this or not.  If you are not going to participate, then we will ask others to assist us.  We need as many as possible.

The moral compass—a new morality

We are revealing this to you slowly; there is far too much for you to digest in one week or one month.  The moral compass is one process.  When you begin working this, you will realize that one major, important tool is missing, and that is a morality for a sustainable civilization.  Your old traditional codes of morality are no longer sufficient to guide you into the world ahead, into the future, to devise a sustainable civilization, and a sustainable family design, or community design.  You also need as well a code of morality that supports you toward those ends.

We will be revealing that in forthcoming weeks, hopefully in a month or so, something that you can read and look to, question and wonder about.  I will prepare you for it—it will take you aback.  Some of you will be aghast; some of you will not be prepared for the decisions that must be made, now and in the future, to support a sustainable society.  I mentioned to you in an earlier session that you are guided to read the paper in The Urantia Book on “Life on another planet.”  There you will see a moral code, which is much different from your own.

As a society, world and civilization evolves, so too must its moral codes.  At one time, approximately a million years ago, the moral code was to kill or be killed.  When you found a competitor who was not one of your family, tribe or clan, you had the liberty to kill that individual and eat it, if you wished.  As societies became more complex, this became impossible because everyone in the clan was not a part of your family, but yet was not an enemy either.  So it became forbidden that you should kill anyone else that was part of your inside group.  This also evolved later on to the point in the moral code where it was an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.  This evolved again into the moral codes of Hammurabi and Moses that were rules for social behavior that guided you not to engage in certain behaviors.  Yet these moral codes are insufficient to assist a growing civilization.

Now, you have laws in place that tell you not to do further behaviors.  So the moral code that you have today is almost a tongue-in-cheek moral code where you can do anything you want to, as long as nobody catches you, and you will not be punished if you are not caught.  This, dear ones, is simply insufficient to guide you into developing a sustainable civilization.  What is called for are behaviors that have the focus of contributing to the sustainability of the individual and of the family and community that all decisions, all options for the future for behavior are made with that in mind.  This is the essence and core of your new morality.  This will require you to make very different decisions, as the “me-ism” of your society is its central guiding force—“what is good for me is good for everyone”—and so you must move past this.  There are efforts in your world now for the “we” type of morality, where your decisions concern the “we,” the larger “we” of your society, that social realm past your immediate personal life, past your family and past your community.

There is a bumper sticker that says, “Live simply so that others may simply live.”  This is a coin from the new morality; this is something that you can use in your everyday life.  Many people think that is funny, humorous, and not a reality, but I tell you that it is.  This is the way that a sustainable world will come into existence, when every decision you make has a consideration of the impact upon your neighbor, your community and your world.

You will see that material recycling is a part of this new morality, that [it] is a material ethic that must be applied.  It is beginning to be used.  Someone once said in passing that eventually your societies will mine your landfills as a tremendous resource, and this is so.  These will eventually be all dug up, recycled, and processed in a new way, so that all toxic materials are removed and all usable resources are mined and reused again.  If you think of recycling in the future, 500 years from now, what can you imagine it to look like?  This is a pragmatic question that I deliver to some of you, similarly as I delivered to you last week and weeks past, about devising a sustainable medical model.  What would resource recycling look like?  This would not be out of the realm of possibility to have in effect within 20 or 30 years in your society.

The larger aspects of your world 500 years from now is the necessity of having a stabilized global population.  How you get there is another factor, with which you need not concern yourself immediately.  You must first begin practicing your own moral decisions concerning the number of children you have, and whether the children you do have are genetically sustainable.  You see, the depths of the questions you ask are huge.  It begins, as we have said before — building a sustainable civilization and world begins long before conception of an individual.  When you have this consideration that applies to all conceptions in the future, then you begin to think in terms of a sustainable world with a morality that supports those decisions."

In answer to a question about consciousness we find this:

"Your consciousness is tuned to four dimensions

MONJORONSON:  Yes, gladly.  Consciousness is awareness that you are aware of yourself thinking, as circular.  Many aspects of consciousness cannot be revealed to you, as I would use language that would be unintelligible to you.  I am not trying to skirt your question, and I will answer it as best I can.  Consciousness is peculiar to your species; it is something that is peculiar to morontial beings at the various levels of their development, and it is peculiar to the spiritual realm and the eternal.  Your consciousness is very limited, though it is hugely expanded past the capacity of most mortals to comprehend or to use effectively.  Given what I have said, you realize now that your consciousness is primarily related to your four dimensions, that you cannot project your consciousness capably to effect an outcome on the morontial realm.  You can project your consciousness to the morontial realm and become aware of it as an observer, but you have no capacity to effect change or development within that realm.  Are you with me so far?  (MMc:  Yes, I am.)"

(JRT) I think he is referring here to out-of-body-travel and in-body projection of consciousness as well.

"Your consciousness is tuned to this reality, this reality meaning the four dimensions of your material existence.  Your consciousness is facile, meaning that it has tremendous flexibility, the capacity of which is far beyond most mortals to manipulate or use effectively for themselves.  Many mortals, most mortals, do not even believe that they can have an effect upon this “reality,” which is an unfortunate error on your part, as you are not able to bring your consciousness to bear for the best outcome of your life, or that of your world.  If everyone on your world said in unison that they wanted to bring about a sustainable civilization, my friends, I am here to tell you that within two years it would have begun!

And so for the very reason for your working together, you can effect change in your universe.  You can effect change—that is why the forces of light will reign supreme in time.  The eventuality of your world is that it will live in light; it will glow as a bright gem in the universe for all to see as the World of the Cross, where Christ Michael of Nebadon completed his seventh bestowal.  There will be no mistake about this pronouncement.  And “you,” in this generation—future generations—in concert with others in your consciousness, will bring this about.  The consciousness that you project on the world must, of course, be effected by the decisions you make from the choices that are given in life for a particular intention and outcome.

This is where your consciousness comes to bear.  When you state or write an intention for a positive outcome, then we assist in the development of that outcome.  The intentions that you hold in mind begin to out-form themselves with the assistance of the material reality of the universe.  When I say, “the material reality of the universe,” I mean the ultimaton reality that is formed by mind action, whether by a mortal or by an immortal.  This material, for your manipulation, is limited to the four dimensions of your reality.  However, you can make this intention and the form of your consciousness much more powerful by asking and invoking our presence to assist in the fulfillment of your intention.  We then apply our consciousness to your intention to have that out-formed.

The power of your mind, consciousness and intentions

You have little appreciation for the power of your mind, of your consciousness, of your intentions.  You have tremendous force for good in your world, as you can engage us to assist you.  When you or others engage an intention of darkness to do evil, to do wrong, or to do something that is indifferent and ineffectual to form the future world, you do so alone.  Your consciousness is needed to embrace our presence.  Many of you do not see or feel us here, yet we are here, our consciousness is here, our presence is here.  We can be of tremendous assistance to you.  When you think of working alone in your world, you work in solitude, in silence, isolated, ineffectual in many ways to bring about good, but when you are aware of us and ask us for our participation, you become much more powerful.  When you hold an intention concretely in mind for what you want, and ask for assistance, it will be done!  Your reference tells you this, that all questions, all needs and desires given to God will eventually be fulfilled in time, in their appropriate time and order.  This is consciousness in action.  You do not need to have an equation to demonstrate this or prove it, you simply accept this.  Consciousness is what you are all about in this lifetime when you grow spiritually, when you evolve emotionally and you embrace the light as “one” with your self, and you choose to be a part of that with your life.  You—meaning you individually—each one of you, need to write out clearly, your intention for your life.  What is the intention for your life?  Why are you here?  For what reasons do you live?  What would you have come into existence beyond the immediacy of this moment that you have, and that you grasp?

Here is my email message to Michael McCray in reply, although at that time the Broadband setup of BSNL had been knocked out by a cyclone that hit Chennai and Bangalore:

Monjoronson's statement:
"You—meaning you individually—each one of you, need to write out clearly, your intention for your life.  What is the intention for your life?  Why are you here?  For what reasons do you live?  What would you have come into existence beyond the immediacy of this moment that you have, and that you grasp?"

My answers to his questions:                                                January 2nd 2012
1)      My intention for my life is to try my best to do the will of God so that I can attain immortal life. And I know that the will of God for me is to love God above all things and all fellow humans in the way God loves them, as Jesus called me to be an apostle and serve them all, and love them as He does.
2)      I am here only to fulfill that purpose and so make the world a better place to live in for everyone.
3)      I live only to love God and do His will more and more, so that I can fuse with my Adjuster and so attain union with God forever, and continue to love and serve God, and all God's creatures and subabsolute beings in the whole of cosmos.
4)      What I would like is for all the people of our world to turn with love and worship to the One God, and by His grace, and the help of His created perfect ministers,  agree to build a better world jointly and together: a world of unselfish service, love and compassion for all peoples of the world; a world where no one is lonely, no one goes hungry, every person is valued and kindly treated; where every animal, every tree, every flower is valued and kindly treated; a world without waste, without cynicism, without selfishness, without cruelty, without sloth, lethargy and apathy, without anger, greed, or hate, without arrogance, pride, superiority or inferiority complex; where mutual love is freely expressed and sexual intercourse occurs only out of honest mutual love and affection; a world where the family is inviolable and becomes a safe haven for the upbringing of children, and a building block of civilization; where there is enough water, food, clothing, shelter and medical care for everyone, and no one is too poor to enjoy these basic necessities of life; a world where there is sufficient, if not yet equal, opportunity for all children in the educational field; and where there is a huge information highway to reveal the truth to all so that nothing can be hidden and no one can be deprived of the right to know the truth; a world where every person can not just make a living but make a life; a world where every person is willing to live simply so that others may simply live; a world where humans live in harmony with the environment and love Mother Nature, the Planetary Supreme; a world where there is no more war, and all the nations band together to avoid war and set up police action instead for keeping International Law through institutions freely accepted by all and in which they participate democratically. I want to see a world where all persons enjoy freedom and dignity; where everyone enjoys liberty in his or her own thinking, and is not deprived of sufficient information to make up his own mind in the ongoing search for truth. I want to see governments that are truly honest and responsive to the interests and aspirations of the people.

But, if I confine my thinking to 'the immediacy of this moment', meaning the next immediate step into the future that I would like to see, it is the incarnation of Monjoronson and Machiventa Melchizedek with the twelve governing Melchizedeks and the whole Magisterial Mission; and, with their help, the re-evangelization of the world on the basis of the Fifth Epochal Revelation that will rehabilitate the original teachings of Jesus. By this means I hope that the existence of limitless and indestructible energy will convince our human race of the Fact of God, that the existence of our mind on loan from the cosmic forces will convince  our race of the law and principles of God, and that the power of the spirit in each one of us will convince our human race of the love of God; and so atheism will become only a dim memory of a vanished past. That is necessary because, as Jesus told John, we cannot love one another more unless and until we love God more. We need the grace of God to achieve the supreme ethic.

When the Broadband starts working again this will be emailed to Michael McCray by John RT. Happy New Year to all!

Now I am giving you a brief sample of the UB Paper to which Monjoronson refers:
3. The Home Life
72.3.1 On this continent it is against the law for two families to live under the same roof. And since group dwellings have been outlawed, most of the tenement type of buildings have been demolished. But the unmarried still live in clubs, hotels, and other group dwellings. The smallest homesite permitted must provide fifty thousand square feet of land. All land and other property used for home purposes are free from taxation up to ten times the minimum homesite allotment.

72.3.2 The home life of this people has greatly improved during the last century. Attendance of parents, both fathers and mothers, at the parental schools of child culture is compulsory. Even the agriculturists who reside in small country settlements carry on this work by correspondence, going to the near-by centers for oral instruction once in ten days — every two weeks, for they maintain a five-day week.

72.3.3 The average number of children in each family is five, and they are under the full control of their parents or, in case of the demise of one or both, under that of the guardians designated by the parental courts. It is considered a great honor for any family to be awarded the guardianship of a full orphan. Competitive examinations are held among parents, and the orphan is awarded to the home of those displaying the best parental qualifications.

72.3.4 These people regard the home as the basic institution of their civilization. It is expected that the most valuable part of a child’s education and character training will be secured from his parents and at home, and fathers devote almost as much attention to child culture as do mothers.

72.3.5 All sex instruction is administered in the home by parents or by legal guardians. Moral instruction is offered by teachers during the rest periods in the school shops, but not so with religious training, which is deemed to be the exclusive privilege of parents, religion being looked upon as an integral part of home life. Purely religious instruction is given publicly only in the temples of philosophy, no such exclusively religious institutions as the Urantia churches having developed among this people. In their philosophy, religion is the striving to know God and to manifest love for one’s fellows through service for them, but this is not typical of the religious status of the other nations on this planet. Religion is so entirely a family matter among these people that there are no public places devoted exclusively to religious assembly. Politically, church and state, as Urantians are wont to say, are entirely separate, but there is a strange overlapping of religion and philosophy.

72.3.6 Until twenty years ago the spiritual teachers (comparable to Urantia pastors), who visit each family periodically to examine the children to ascertain if they have been properly instructed by their parents, were under governmental supervision. These spiritual advisers and examiners are now under the direction of the newly created Foundation of Spiritual Progress, an institution supported by voluntary contributions. Possibly this institution may not further evolve until after the arrival of a Paradise Magisterial Son.

72.3.7 Children remain legally subject to their parents until they are fifteen, when the first initiation into civic responsibility is held. Thereafter, every five years for five successive periods similar public exercises are held for such age groups at which their obligations to parents are lessened, while new civic and social responsibilities to the state are assumed. Suffrage is conferred at twenty, the right to marry without parental consent is not bestowed until twenty-five, and children must leave home on reaching the age of thirty.

72.3.8 Marriage and divorce laws are uniform throughout the nation. Marriage before twenty — the age of civil enfranchisement — is not permitted. Permission to marry is only granted after one year’s notice of intention, and after both bride and groom present certificates showing that they have been duly instructed in the parental schools regarding the responsibilities of married life.

72.3.9 Divorce regulations are somewhat lax, but decrees of separation, issued by the parental courts, may not be had until one year after application therefor has been recorded, and the year on this planet is considerably longer than on Urantia. Notwithstanding their easy divorce laws, the present rate of divorces is only one tenth that of the civilized races of Urantia.

(JRT) We should note that the above system was worked out on one Australia-sized continent of a neighbouring planet that was infected like us by the Lucifer Rebellion, as well as by the default of its Planetary Prince and its Material Son of God (Adam and Eve). It seems they have done better than we have, so far. I like the idea of making religion a family affair, with support from Temples of Philosophy. But our philosophers will need to catch up with the Fact of God.

Commentary on the Anthropic Principle:
Dr.Stephen Hawking wrote the first essay in the book Predicting the Future edited by Leo Howe and Alan Wain (Cambridge University Press, 1993, ISBN 0 521 41323 0.) In it he stated: “If the density of the universe one second after the Big Bang had been greater than one part in a thousand billion, the universe would have recollapsed after ten years. On the other hand, if the density of the universe at that time had been less by the same amount, the universe would have been essentially empty since it was about ten years old.” So says the world’s leading cosmologist.

Assuming this is true, then the odds against the selection of initial critical density by chance are beyond the astronomical: they are great enough to make the word impossible into an understatement. Therefore, in order to avoid a Creator and preserve the concept of random chance, Hawking had to put forward the Anthropic Principle. In back of that principle is the second law of thermo-dynamics by which any increase in negentropy locally has to be paid for by an increase in entropy elsewhere. In common language that means that ordered structures cannot be created except by creating more chaos in some other area. So for example you cannot build a road through a jungle without doing a lot of damage to the ecology as well as using up a lot of energy and raw materials. In the case of a whole universe, therefore, you could only get an ordered universe out of pure chance by having a virtually infinite number of disordered universes.

Against this viewpoint, I would propose that according to Occam’s Razor, wherever an hypothesis depends on certain arbitrary assumptions, that hypothesis that contains the lesser number of arbitrary assumptions should be preferred. The concept of a Creator seems to me a much more economical one than the hypothesis of a virtually infinite number of chaotic and futile universes existing by random chance.

Furthermore, the impossibility factor of random initial conditions of density has not been eliminated by the Anthropic Principle but merely (and somewhat arbitrarily) transferred to the infinite number of disordered universes (for which there is no empirical evidence). Moreover, I cannot understand why, as Hawking and Penrose proved, space-time and matter-energy cease to exist at the singularity, but the second law of thermodynamics has managed to survive and go on working, impervious to everything else. Is it supposed to be self-existent? In that case we are back to the Apsu/Tiamat duo of the Enuma Elish of Sumeria, which means an all-powerful God of Chaos. I would be the first to admit that there are a lot of errors in the Bible, but I don’t feel that we should throw the baby out with the bath water quite to that extent.

Frankly, I am not interested in proving the existence of God. All I am saying is that intellectual honesty should entitle us to include the Creator Hypothesis as a scientific concept at least as valid as the Anthropic Principle unless and until it can be disproved. In other words I want a level playing field.

There is also the matter of responsibility. Is it fair to our children to brainwash them against the Creator Hypothesis instead of giving it equal time, so that they are really free to make their own choice of values? Also, is it fair to our Creator, if He does exist, to leave Him out of the loop? The way forward should be along the lines of secularism as enshrined in the Indian Constitution, not the French variety. However, while it may be impertinent to claim that one can prove the existence of God, if Hawking’s above-mentioned maths is correct, the mathematical probability that there is a God could not be much less than one thousand billion to one. That is what I call a safe bet!

A Problem of Credibility:
There was a lot of discussion on the Monjoronson Forum about why the predictions given to us by the celestials kept changing, and were sometimes rather vague and difficult to understand.

First I will quote here a post I made on the forum of Monjoronson Com on October 11th 2011:

“I think the root of the problem is that we have two parallel streams of causality at work in cosmos. On one hand we have the divine plan that infallibly succeeds in the broad-spectrum outcome, no matter how much it is frustrated by negative forces, but needs to be modified constantly in detail by God, in combination with all positive forces. On the other hand we have a Matrix of actualities created by the creative power of all free-will creatures. Our own thinking as humans contributes to the aggregate reality created by the Collective Consciousness (which is at least partly unconscious I think).

Looking at it from the imaginary viewpoint of God, it would be like watching a gigantic firework display of the freewill transformations of the Matrix, which is constantly changing. He then has to adapt His divine plan to that free-will response in the Matrix.

In my opinion, pure chance has no foothold in creation, but actuarial statistics does. God seems to me to be a statistical expert. While he may not be able to predict accurately how an individual person will behave in given circumstances, he can accurately predict statistical results involving a large number of individuals.

We have seen many examples of this modification of divine plans in our own case at Monjoronson Com. We expect our elder brothers, the celestials, to be able to make predictions with absolute certainty, and some of us seem to be shocked when they can’t. But it is the shocked ones who are taking a naïve view of reality. Because of the necessity of free will in creation, a necessity that stems from the very nature and character of the Creator, such certainty is impossible. When we were very young we had the same idea about our human parents. We thought they could never make mistakes. When we reached adolescence we probably thought they could never get anything right. Both extremes are false.

So it is with God. He is Almighty, and, just occasionally, He will cut the Gordian Knot and bring matters to a swift conclusion by divine Fiat , as He is doing now on our world. But, apart from that, when the celestials try to apply the divine plan to a hostile Matrix, it could be a bit like when we try to predict the movements of the stock markets. That’s why they have to keep changing their plans. Of course the stock markets are always hostile, because they have three categories of participants, bears, bulls and pigs, and because they are driven by either greed or fear or both together.”

If you do not believe what I said above, just ask yourself this question: was it necessary for Judas Iscariot, Annas, or Pontius Pilate to act the way they did?  My answer is “Certainly not!” If you read the Gospel thoroughly you will see that Jesus gave them every possible opportunity to change their mind. That was because he knew very well that it was perfectly possible for them to do so. The crucifixion of Jesus could have been avoided. The crucifixion of Jesus should have been avoided. It was not directly willed by God. It was not part of the divine plan. It came from the Matrix only. The divine plan had to be modified to include it, and so bring good out of evil, as only God can, or has any right so to do. Blessed be He!

Even in the case of the One Eternal Son, the Urantia Book tells us:

7.0.5 The Son is not, however, personally responsible for the conduct of all spirit personalities. The will of the personal creature is relatively free and hence determines the actions of such volitional beings. Therefore the freewill spirit world is not always truly representative of the character of the Eternal Son, even as nature on Urantia is not truly revelatory of the perfection and immutability of Paradise and Deity. But no matter what may characterize the freewill action of man or angel, the Son’s eternal grasp of the universal gravity control of all spirit realities continues as absolute.

Herein in the chief reason why Jesus had so much difficulty in trying to make the Apostles understand his teachings spiritually instead of in a materialistic, worldly sense. It is almost impossible for mortal men to visualize and experience reality at different levels as it is experienced by morontial and spirituals persons. We make glaring assumptions that are wrong. We fail to understand the limitations of the various types of celestials. We either attribute to them a degree of infallibility they do not possess, or else reject them totally as false, when we would do well to listen to their good advice. We are impatient and impulsive. We expect too much. We give all too little in the line of humility and respect. We should stop acting like spoiled brats and start acting a bit more like the saints of old.

To support the above conclusions I quote from a Divine Counselor in the Urantia Book, Paper 4:

4.2.1 Nature is in a limited sense the physical habit of God. The conduct, or action, of God is qualified and provisionally modified by the experimental plans and the evolutionary patterns of a local universe, a constellation, a system, or a planet. God acts in accordance with a well-defined, unchanging, immutable law throughout the wide-spreading master universe; but he modifies the patterns of his action so as to contribute to the co-ordinate and balanced conduct of each universe, constellation, system, planet, and personality in accordance with the local objects, aims, and plans of the finite projects of evolutionary unfolding.

4.2.2 Therefore, nature, as mortal man understands it, presents the underlying foundation and fundamental background of a changeless Deity and his immutable laws, modified by, fluctuating because of, and experiencing upheavals through, the working of the local plans, purposes, patterns, and conditions which have been inaugurated and are being carried out by the local universe, constellation, system, and planetary forces and personalities. For example: As God’s laws have been ordained in Nebadon, they are modified by the plans established by the Creator Son and Creative Spirit of this local universe; and in addition to all this the operation of these laws has been further influenced by the errors, defaults, and insurrections of certain beings resident upon your planet and belonging to your immediate planetary system of Satania.

4.2.3 Nature is a time-space resultant of two cosmic factors: first, the immutability, perfection, and rectitude of Paradise Deity, and second, the experimental plans, executive blunders, insurrectionary errors, incompleteness of development, and imperfection of wisdom of the extra-Paradise creatures, from the highest to the lowest. Nature therefore carries a uniform, unchanging, majestic, and marvelous thread of perfection from the circle of eternity; but in each universe, on each planet, and in each individual life, this nature is modified, qualified, and perchance marred by the acts, the mistakes, and the disloyalties of the creatures of the evolutionary systems and universes; and therefore must nature ever be of a changing mood, whimsical withal, though stable underneath, and varied in accordance with the operating procedures of a local universe.

4.2.4 Nature is the perfection of Paradise divided by the incompletion, evil, and sin of the unfinished universes. This quotient is thus expressive of both the perfect and the partial, of both the eternal and the temporal. Continuing evolution modifies nature by augmenting the content of Paradise perfection and by diminishing the content of the evil, error, and disharmony of relative reality.

4.2.5 God is not personally present in nature or in any of the forces of nature, for the phenomenon of nature is the superimposition of the imperfections of progressive evolution and, sometimes, the consequences of insurrectionary rebellion, upon the Paradise foundations of God’s universal law. As it appears on such a world as Urantia, nature can never be the adequate expression, the true representation, the faithful portrayal, of an all-wise and infinite God.

(JRT) I think it was such considerations that prompted the Vedantists to explain God in a two-fold manner, as the impersonal divine nature of the Brahman as well as the hyperpersonal Narayana. The force/energy of the Brahman underlies even the evil things that exist, but Narayana never intends evil and is not directly responsible for it.

4.2.6 Nature, on your world, is a qualification of the laws of perfection by the evolutionary plans of the local universe. What a travesty to worship nature because it is in a limited, qualified sense pervaded by God; because it is a phase of the universal and, therefore, divine power! Nature also is a manifestation of the unfinished, the incomplete, the imperfect outworkings of the development, growth, and progress of a universe experiment in cosmic evolution.

4.2.7 The apparent defects of the natural world are not indicative of any such corresponding defects in the character of God. Rather are such observed imperfections merely the inevitable stop-moments in the exhibition of the ever-moving reel of infinity picturization. It is these very defect-interruptions of perfection-continuity which make it possible for the finite mind of material man to catch a fleeting glimpse of divine reality in time and space. The material manifestations of divinity appear defective to the evolutionary mind of man only because mortal man persists in viewing the phenomena of nature through natural eyes, human vision unaided by morontia mota or by revelation, its compensatory substitute on the worlds of time.

(JRT) The average person cannot possibly understand 'morontia mota' (soul wisdom) directly, so we need to study revelation instead, which has been given to us as a substitute for soul wisdom.

4.2.8 And nature is marred, her beautiful face is scarred, her features are seared, by the rebellion, the misconduct, the misthinking of the myriads of creatures who are a part of nature, but who have contributed to her disfigurement in time. No, nature is not God. Nature is not an object of worship.

(JRT) It is in such ways that religious revelation holds us back from those errors of thinking that seem to be common among religions of mainly mortal origin. I admit that I have been guilty of many such errors myself, but I bow to the gracious goodness of God, Who has given us this Fifth Epochal Revelation. For me, it certainly has the “ring of Truth”.
This is just a small part of chapter twelve. Signed, John Robert Thwaytes at Malbazar on Wednesday February 8th 2012.
